This is a term I’ve coined, which is similar to the act of mansplaining: the explanation of something by a man, typically to a woman, in a manner regarded as condescending or patronizing. Parentphrasing is a play on the word paraphrase, and it is when an event, project or important fact is explained to a working parent by an office colleague.
